Magic Express Tennis Club

Formed in 1983, the club has grown over the years in members and activities. Presently, Magic Express boasts over 70 members of all ages and skill levelsfrom beginners to seasoned players. The club’s home court is Elmira Park (just beyond the intersection of Fayetteville and Cornwallis, near NCCU). On most weeknights during the spring, summer and early fall, club members of all skill levels gather to play matches, practice techniques, and socialize. METC participates in several USTA leagues, Doubles and Mixed Doubles leagues, travel matches against other tennis clubs and a variety of tournaments. Magic Express sponsors three of its own tournaments during the year two of them are free to members. Magic Express Junior Development Program - begun in 1999, the program is open to kids of all levels of play, ages 8-18. Sessions are taught in the spring and summer, and culminate with a tennis fun day/pizza party. Magic Kids learn basic skills and begin friendships and tennis relationships with other kids. The program is taught by Magic Express members and is led by Donn Aikins METC Junior Development Director. Magic Express club members travel to the US Open as a group. Magic Express is a year-round tennis club; in the winterthe club hosts tennis parties at indoor tennis facilities and also has a quarterly club newsleter, Magic Expressions
