What are the peak periods when rooms in Durham may be difficult to find?

DCVB maintains a separate listing of peak occupancy periods, which typically revolve around university homecomings, parents’ weekends, commencements, etc. Sometimes peak periods are related to mega-events being held in Durham or nearby communities. What type of dance is the American Dance Festival (ADF)?

ADF is the largest and most influential modern dance festival in the world, featuring more than two dozen dance companies and hundreds of choreographers, writers, and students participating in classes, seminars, and performances.

What is the Carolina or Piedmont Blues?

Also called the East Coast Blues, they are a sensitive, delicate, and upbeat form of the Blues pioneered in Durham during the 1920s and 1930s. Each year in September, performers appear at the Bull Durham Blues Festival to celebrate this and other types of Blues music.

Does Durham have a Fourth of July Celebration?

Yes. Each year the Eno River Association sponsors Festival for the Eno, the region’s premier Independence Day event, with arts, crafts, music, and more along the banks of the river at West Point on the Eno City Park. Traditionally there are also firework displays, held at Duke University or at Durham Central Park in Downtown Durham.

Does Durham have nightspots with live entertainment?
